M80 Chair Upgrades Explained: What’s New and a Complete Feature Guide

okupfurniture01 |

The M80 just got a few practical upgrades. It now charges in 2.5 hours instead of 3, and the M80-A adds a redesigned control panel and low-battery beeps. We’ve also put together a complete guide to using every feature, from the controls to ventilation, heating, and massage.

What’s New
  • Faster charging (M80-A and dual-motor): a full charge now takes about 2.5 hours, down from 3. One charge lasts about a month with typical use, depending on which functions you use and how often.
  • Icon buttons (M80-A only): the old A/B/C/D labels are now icons that show each button’s function, so a slight lean to the side is all it takes to find the right one.
  • Low-battery beeps (M80-A only): along with the flashing red light, the chair beeps when the battery runs low. Below 20%, it beeps for 10 seconds. Below 5%, a long tone sounds for 3 minutes. The sound is soft, but clear enough to notice before you recline.

The seat itself hasn’t changed. It’s the same comfortable cushioning you know.

Is It the Right Fit for You?

The M80-A is designed for people 5'7" to 6'7". The backrest is 25" tall, so at 5'11" it supports you from your neck to the base of your skull.

If you're a bit shorter, it can still work. A 5'3" teammate found that sitting fully back leaves her slightly reclined, at about 98–100°. That suits relaxed tasks like browsing. For a fully upright posture, just sit slightly forward of the backrest.

Check Your Desk Setup
Measurement Range
Seat height 19.3"–21.7"
Floor to top of armrest 24.4"–26.8"

The seat height lets your knees bend at about 90°. Make sure the armrest height clears your desk. If you sit on the higher end, you may want to raise your screen so your eyes stay level with it.

Your Controls

The chair uses single-click, double-click, and long-press. The double-click is a shortcut for people who prefer not to hold a button: it takes the chair straight to its full travel position. If you'd rather not memorize anything, long-pressing works for every function. The one exception is switching massage modes, which is a single click.

Quick Status Check

Glance down at the side buttons to see what's running:

  • Green light: ventilation
  • Yellow light: heating
  • Blue light: massage
  • Red light on the outermost button: the chair is powered on (flashing red means low battery)
Built-In Auto-Off

Each function runs in 20-minute programs. When time is up, it switches off and the chair goes to sleep, so there's no need to worry about forgetting. To start again, press any button, then choose what you'd like.

Comfort Features

All functions can run at the same time.

Electric lumbar support: extends about 2" (5 cm) to match the curve of your lower back.

Ventilation: similar to a car's ventilated seats, it's a soft, steady airflow rather than a strong blast, made to keep things comfortable during long sits. Not sure it's on? Hold your hand over the seat vents and you'll feel it.

Heating: warms up within about three minutes and holds at 104°F (45°C). It's especially nice on a cool fall day. If you feel warmth after it turns off, that's residual heat, which fades gradually.

Massage: four vibration points across your lower and upper back, with five modes. It's most noticeable when you recline, and the further you lean back, the stronger it feels. When you're sitting upright at work, you'll only feel it lightly. It isn't meant to work like a full-size massage chair. We chose vibration so the seat could keep  4.7" of cushioning and its sofa-like feel. It's a nice way to unwind during a short rest.

Battery Notes
  • Controls are locked while the chair is plugged in, which helps protect the battery.
  • A flashing red light on the outermost button means the battery is low. Plug the chair in and give it about 2 hours to fill back up.
A Note on the Dual-Motor Version

Our dual-motor chair received the faster charging. It doesn't include low-battery beeps. Since it has an electric backrest and footrest only, it also doesn't include ventilation, heating, massage, or the electric lumbar support.

In Short

Three small upgrades, the same cozy seat, and a clearer picture of how everything works. If you have questions about fit or desk setup, our team is happy to help.
